05-16-11 Update

Update! I also considered calling it "Oscar Meyer's Law".

Congrats to Housepets for winning the Ursa Major!

This was a good comic, but I never heard it referred to as "Goodwin's Law." Usually "Godwin's Law."

I like the comic, and I'm sorry to hear that you didn't win an Ursa. Better luck next year!

Godwin's Law actually states that as time goes on, in any conversation, the probability of someone comparing a point of view to Hitler or the Nazis approaches 1.

Godwin actually stated that often times such a comparison was valid and should be used, and that we should be careful in overusing the Nazi comparison for fear of diluting its effect through improper application, and is reportedly rather upset that people have twisted it around as an excuse to stop thinking as soon as Nazis come up, because he wanted it to remind people to think *more*.
